Big Mean Filter Machine
Robert LaneShare
It's been a while since the last update, Anglians - mainly because I have been very busy working on the lovely model finder engine you can see at the top of the page. This thing is absolutely amazing and is exactly what the webstore needs to get you to the kit you're looking for!
Big Mean Filter Machine
Modelled on the very cool model finder on everybody's favourite kit site, scalemates, the model finder on Anglia Models works in a very similar fashion.
Most pages will have the small Model Finder strip at the top (others at the bottom), from which you can select the brand, class (such as aircraft, or vehicle, or vessel), scale, country of origin or service (such as the Royal Air Force). Press go, and the results will appear on the Big Mean Filter Machine page - aka the search or filter page!
You can just press go to get to the filter page, without choosing anything from the dropdowns, and that will give you all the filters to choose from on the left. I may rearrange the order of these filters, but you get
- Type of Kit (with free text filter) - giving you the option to search for full kits, accessories, decals, etc.
- Brand - speaks for itself. All the brands we stock!
- Scale - the scale of the model kit.
- Category - civilian, military, hobby or not applicable.
- Class - from aircraft to vessels to figures to vehicles to whatever class the model kit belongs to!
- Country - the country of manufacture.
- Service - the service the model kit can be used for in terms of the decals supplied.
I will definitely add to these filters at some point over the next few months; the data I've recorded on all of the kits we stock has some very interesting things to choose from, such as type of craft (medium tank, heavy bomber, submarine, and so on), era (World War II, Korean War), amount of engines, tracked or wheeled, manufacturer, release date, stock status, and so on and so forth.
I've been working very hard getting the thousands of products on the webstore to work with the model finder properly, and while there may still be a few odd results here and there in the dropdown menus I'll make sure all the data is organised properly over time; if you spot anything odd, please just let me know.
So, have a play with the model finder yourself, and grab what you fancy.
Little Tracks (and Wheels)
I've also been hard at work adding some smaller vehicle brands to the store too. You'll find Border Model, Das Werk, Gecko Models and Thunder Model are now represented, and once I've done their full pages I'll introduce them properly.
I'm also going to add more of the smaller brands, too; Hobby 2000, Rye Field Models and Takom amongst others, and I'm working on getting the remaining large brands on the site too, from Hasegawa to Academy to Special Hobby.
Until then... enjoy!
