Both used a turret design from Krupp; the main differences were in the hull design, transmission and suspension.

The Henschel version used a conventional hull design with sloped armor resembling the layout of the Panther tank. It had a rear mounted engine and used nine overlapping road wheels per side, mounted on transverse torsion bars, in a similar manner to the original Tiger. To simplify maintenance, however, the wheels were overlapping rather than interleaved as in the Tiger

Henschel won the contract, and all Tiger IIs were produced by the firm. Two turret designs were used in production vehicles. The initial design is sometimes misleadingly called the 'Porsche turret' due to the belief that it was designed by Porsche for their prototype. In fact this turret was simply the initial Krupp design for both prototypes. This turret had a rounded front and steeply sloped sides, with a difficult-to-manufacture curved bulge on the turret's left side, to accommodate the commander's cupola. Fifty early turrets were mounted to Henschel's hull and used in action. The more common 'production' turret, sometimes called the 'Henschel' turret, was simplified with a flat face, no shot trap (created by the curved face of the initial-type turret), less-steeply sloped sides, and no bulge for the commander's cupola.

The track system used on the Tiger II chassis was a unique one, which used alternating 'contact shoe' and 'connector' links—the contact shoe link had a pair of transverse metal bars that contacted the ground, while the connector links had no contact with the ground.

The Tiger II was developed late in the war and made in relatively small numbers. Like all German tanks, it had a gasoline engine. However, this same engine powered the much lighter Panther and Tiger I tanks. The chassis front armor was 150mm thick with 80mm thick side armor and powered by a 700hp Maybach HL230-P30 engine. The Henschel and Porsche companies came up with rival turret prototypes. The first fifty tanks produced had Porsche turret whereas subsequent tanks were equipped with the Henschel designed production turret that featured many improvements over the first model. The King Tiger was armed with a 71-caliber 88mm gun that had enough power to pierce 150mm thick armor from 2,000m away. Between the beginning of production in Summer 1944 and March 1945, 440 units were completed. Due to the havoc wreaked by the King Tiger during the final German offensive on the Ardennes front in December of 1944, the Allied forces that moved in on Berlin would fear the King Tiger up until the very last day of the war.

About the Model
●1/16 R/C German Heavy Tank King Tiger assembly kit. ●Overall Length: 640mm, Overall Width: 235mm. The massive form of the most powerful tank of WWII has been accurately portrayed. ●88mm gun barrel replicated with aluminum. ●Intricate tank tracks come pre-assembled. ●Kit includes commander figure (upper torso), and decals for the portrayal of 3 different King Tiger Heavy Tanks

Separately Required Items
R6/AA/UM3 batteries x8

Zimmerit coating, realistic and easy to apply
During the second half of WWII, Zimmerit coating was applied on German tanks to protect them from the threat of magnetic mines. For this kit, the Zimmerit coating has been replicated with unique relief printed stickers. Thanks to these stickers, you can now represent accurately a late war King Tiger with great ease.
Realistic Engine Sounds
2 types of engine starting sounds
Besides using electric motor starter in general conditions, the King Tiger's engine was started using a crank starter on cold days to save batteries power. This model realistically replicates both of these procedures. When switching on transmitter first, the crank starting sound is heard, but when you switch on the receiver first, electric motor starting sound is heard. You can now feel like you are part of the tank crew as you decide which procedure to follow based on temperature conditions.
Recording the actual engine sound
The only King Tiger kept in working condition is displayed in the Musee des Blindes in Saumur, France. In order to record the actual Maybach engine sound, Tamiya's staff crossed half of the planet to come to Saumur. Not only all stages of engine sound from idling through full throttle, but also all the metallic clanking of the tank tracks as well as the crank starting sound and the electric motor starting sound have been thoroughly recorded. Hearing the 700hp Maybach V12 engine sound when running your King Tiger will provide you with an even more striking feel of realism.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0777/1809/4091/files/tamiya-56018-pz_kpfw_-vi-tiger-ii-konigstiger-radio-control-kit.jpg?v=1749109676
tamiya-35164-1-35-pz-kpfw-vi-tiger-ii-ausf-b-konigstiger-henschel
Pz.Kpfw. The results of battles on the Eastern Front in 1941 showed that to successfully counter Soviet tanks, new types of armored vehicles with powerful guns and thick armor were needed. At the beginning of 1943, production of the Pz.Kpfw V Panther tank with a 75-mm long-barreled 7.5 cm KwK42 L/70 gun began. The weight of this tank, depending on the modification, ranged from 43 to 45.5 tons. This tank was classified as both medium and heavy based on various criteria. Many military historians consider it one of the best tanks of World War II. The Pz.Kpfw V also served as the basis for the Jagdpanther tank destroyer and the Bergepanther recovery vehicle. In the winter of 1944, production of another tank, the Pz.Kpfw VI Ausf B Konigstiger, developed by Henschel under the leadership of E. Aders, began. This tank had heavy armor and a long-barreled 88-mm gun. Its armor-piercing shell was capable of hitting any Allied tank at a distance of 2000 meters or more. The Pz.Kpfw.VI Ausf.B tanks served in heavy tank battalions until the end of the war, with a total of 479 Königstiger produced between 1944 and 1945.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0777/1809/4091/files/icm-ds3524-german-panzerwaffe-steel-cats-ww2-1.jpg?v=1751311040
meng-model-sps-037-1-35-pz-kpfw-vi-tiger-ii-konigstiger-interior-set
Pz.Kpfw.
