German Army

The 7.5cm PaK 40 antitank gun was developed by Rheinmetall in 1939-41, with its development becoming more urgent after heavier Russian tanks were encountered in Operation Barbarossa in 1941. Entering service in November 1941, the PaK 40 soon became the standard German antitank gun of WWII with 23,500 pieces produced. Dragon has been busy producing its own 1/72 scale model kit version of the 7.5cm PaK 40, and it has succeeded in creating the best miniature model currently available on the market. The gun is completely new-tooled, and its versatility is enhanced by its ability to be displayed in either towing or combat mode.

With a combat weight of 1425kg, the PaK 40 required a prime mover with sufficient power to move it around the battlefield. Dragon has provided the perfect towing vehicle in the form of an Sd.Kfz. 251/1 Ausf.D. This model of the famous German halftrack is packed with detail, including an open-topped fighting compartment. This highly attractive halftrack-and-antitank-gun set provides modelers with a powerful combination for use against Allied tanks. Since the PaK 40 was used in all theaters, it is equally at home fighting against T-34 tanks on the Eastern Front or M4 Shermans on the Western Front!
