The German heavy tank Sd.Kfz.182 King Tiger (Porsche Turret) was the first King Tiger version. It had the same hull as the one of King Tiger (Henschel Turret), but was fitted with a turret designed by the Krupp company for the Porsche heave tank prototype VK4501(P). That’s also why it’s called a King Tiger (Porsche Turret). The King Tiger (Porsche Turret) saw its first combat near Caen and greatly shocked the Allied troops. The King Tigers of the 22nd Panzer Regiment of the 21st Panzer Division were ordered to strike back in Colombelles seized by the Canadian troops in the east of Caen. On that day, King Tigers destroyed 11 Sherman tanks and captured 2.
