The 2S1 Gvozdika is a 122 mm Russian self-propelled howitzer with 360 degrees firing range. It is based on the MT-LBu multi-purpose chassis.
It was designed to destroy and suppress infantry manpower and firepower, destroy field-type fortifications, provide passageways in minefields
and wire barriers, fight against enemy artillery, mortars and armored vehicles.
It is the world’s first mass-produced amphibious tracked self-propelled howitzer with over 10.000 units manufactured.
The hermetically welded hull has anti-bullet armor with steel plates up to 20 mm thickness. Water obstacles can be overcome by swimming –
propelled by its tracks.
The 2S1 Gvozdika was introduced in 1971 and is in service with more than 40 countries.
