In February 1950, Heinrich Nordhoff, then CEO of Volkswagen , unveiled a convenient transporter called the Type 2. The Type 2, which combined the Beetle's suspension with a boxy body, became the second best-selling model after the Beetle. The Type 2, which started in March 1950 as a commercial vehicle called a delivery van, continued to add various variations and models over time. Pickup trucks with a cargo bed behind the driver's seat are characterized by their high, fully flat cargo bed, and beneath the bed is a locker with approximately 2 square meters of floor space, which served as a convenient storage space. The original Type 2, produced from 1950 to 1966, remains a popular model , partly due to its split front windshield and wide range of body variations . Seating capacity: 2 people Overall length: 4,290 mm Overall width: 1,750 mm Overall height: 1,910 mm Vehicle weight: 1,085 kg Total displacement: 1,493 cc Maximum output: 44 ps / 4,000 rpm (DIN) Maximum torque: 10.4 kg / 2,000 rpm
