In November 1969, the first-generation Fairlady Z was born , replacing the open-body Fairlady with a bold coupe style
featuring a long nose and short deck closed body .

In Japan, two types of engines were offered: the L20 and S20.
In the United States, under the Datsun Sports brand,
the 240Z and 260Z were released, equipped with 2.4 and 2.6-liter inline-six engines, respectively
, and enjoyed immense popularity.

In October 1971, the 240Z
, equipped with the 2.4-liter inline-6 ​​OHC L24 engine that had previously been export-only, went on sale in Japan.
