This boxed set contains:
- 1 x BMD-1 1/35 scale infantry fighting vehicle
Soviet Army
In 1969, the Soviet Airborne Forces received a tracked combat vehicle developed at the initiative of Commander V.F. Margelov. The BMD-1 had the ability to cross water obstacles, carry a four-man troop, and engage various targets with a 73mm smoothbore gun, anti-tank missiles, and machine guns. The use of aluminium armour significantly reduced the vehicle's weight compared to similar vehicles. A special suspension design facilitated the BMD-1’s placement in transport aircraft compartments. Provision was made for airdrop using a parachute system.
