The F-8 Crusader is the first full-fledged practical supersonic fighter in the U.S. Navy.
In September 1951, the U.S. Navy presented to each aircraft manufacturer a proposal request for a supersonic fighter.
At that time, it was technically still in the research stage to break through the speed of sound,
On June 29, 1952, the U.S. Navy approved the proposal of the Chance Boat Company.
The first aircraft was given the name of the XF8U-1, and the first flight was successfully completed on March 25th.
With this flight, the speed of sound was broken through the speed of sound, and the first on-sonic fighter was born.
After that, development went smoothly, and on March 25th, 1957, at an unusually rapid pace
The first real combat unit VF32 equipped with a mass-produced F8U-1 was organized.
F8 attaches the main wing of the retractable 42 ゚ to the shoulder wing type to the slender torso,
It is a one-off, one-of-a-kind supersonic fighter with a fully-moving horizontal tail wing at a low position.
The air intake adopts the pito method that opens on the underside of the nose.
F-8s are roughly divided into fighter jets and reconnaissance aircraft types,
The F-8E has all-weather capacity, and a new pylon has been built on the underside of the main wing.
External equipment up to £4000 is possible,
It also came to exert its power in the ground attack.
In the Vietnam War, as a fighter,
It was also used by anti-aircraft fire suppression and marines,
