The B-24 Liberator is
It's a four-shot U.S. Army bomber.

The development of the B-24s began.
About four years after the first flight of the B-17s,
In January of 1939, the U.S. Army...
Consolidated to replace B17
It started with a request to consider the design of a new bomber.

The demands of the Army at that time,
Maximum speed 483km/h (300mph) or more,
cruising range 4,830km (3,000miles),
Practical lift limit 10,680m(35,000ft),
Bomb carrying 3,629kg (8,000lb)
The demand was quite high.

The design team gave the highest priority to cruising range in development.
This was because the B-17s were weak in range.
First, it was called the Davis Wing.
Use the main wing with a large aspect ratio to reduce air resistance,
We made it possible to mount a lot of fuel tanks in the large wings.

the torso is thick to the limit
I couldn't imagine the bomb at the time.
I tried to make it possible to carry a lot,
This led to a high degree of versatility,
It became a major feature of this aircraft.

The tail wing is a distinctive double-vertical tail,
It was aimed at reducing air resistance,
It also seems to have been popular at the time.

The B-24s immediately began to design as models32,
The design is done at an amazing speed.
On February 21st, the document review was conducted.
As a result, on March 30th of the same year, the prototype was launched.
A contract was made for the actual mock-up.

On October 26th, the main wings and fuselage of the XB-24 were completed.
I made my first flight on December 29th of the same year.
