37622 - HMCC12 - Historic Car Series - painted model
While Japanese passenger cars had primarily developed around family cars, the Celica, which originated from Toyota's Advance Car —a concept car that garnered much attention when it was exhibited at the 16th Tokyo Motor Show in 1969— was the first to adopt the approach of further researching and perfecting this dream car. The car boasts an original styling with a height of just 1,310mm. It has a flowing silhouette, the result of thorough aerodynamic testing in a wind tunnel. Four types of power units are available, and the top-of-the-line 1600GT is equipped with the 2T-G engine, a masterpiece from the 1970s, for the first time. All of the newly designed mechanisms work together to produce astonishing driving stability and handling. Debuting in October 1970, the Celica was a symbol of Toyota's advanced technology as it ventured into the future, and it became a leading car in promoting motorization in Japan, representing the 1970s. Specifications : Seating capacity: 5 people Overall length: 4,165 mm Overall width: 1,600 mm Overall height: 1,310 mm Vehicle weight: 940 kg Total displacement: 1,588 cc Maximum output: 115 ps / 6,400 rpm Maximum torque: 14.5 kg / 5,200 rpm
