Citroën HY and Goods Trailer
France

he Citroen Fourgon Type H was a delivery truck that was used in many industries and trades. It was also used to deliver farm produce and, with the trailer, even more goods could be transported to customers or to the town market.
Type H could carry 1,200 kg of goods with a volume of 7.3 m3. It was designed by Pierre Franchiset, to whom it owes its name, the „H“, because it was the eighth project of this type developed by Citroën, the „H“ also being the eighth letter of the alphabet. It was presented to the public in 1947 and during its long production period (34 years) more than 473,000 units were built. Farmers and many other industries used the Citroen HY because they almost always had something to transport, whether it was wood, paving stones, hedge or lawn cuttings, tools or machinery. The trailer could be towed by both vans and tractors, making it ideal for everyday use. The load could be secured with ropes or straps using the lashing hooks on the sides. Adapted sideboards and a tailgate transformed the trailer into a reliable helper in no time at all.
