German Army

The French Army decided in August 1933 the development of new light tank replacing Renault FT. Under the scheme Hotchkiss planned H35。Debuted in 1939, was souped up to go 37.5km/h and was equipped with 33-caliber gun. H39 was superior to the then German main tanks Panzer I and II in total performance, and was equal to even Panzer III in firepower. After the surrender of France, approximately 600 of H35 series tanks were requisitioned by Germany. In the last half of the war, however, these requisitioned tanks were being outdated. That is why many of them were recycled in various forms based on those chassis. H38 radio directing tanks were among them.
