Italeri - 6071 - Austerlitz 1805 - Fighting for Sokolnitz - painted model

The Battle of Austerlitz represents Napoleon’s greatest success and is considered a masterpiece of military strategy. One of the most famous battles in history, it was fought on December 2, 1805, near the town of Austerlitz, and is also known as the “Battle of the Three Emperors” because it saw the confrontation between Napoleon’s Grande Armée and the allied forces of Tsar Alexander I of Russia and Emperor Francis II of Austria. Following Napoleon’s strategic victory at Ulm, the Battle of Austerlitz marked the decisive moment in the conflicts of the War of the Third Coalition. The battle has taken on a legendary status due to the masterful execution of the Grande Armée’s battle plan, at the height of its effectiveness. Key moments included the defence of the villages of Tellnitz and Sokolnitz—where intense fighting took place around the granary and the castle—and the assault on the Pratzen Heights.
